About New York Medicine Doctors

Who we are

New York Medicine Doctors began in 2009 as a single urology office in Queens. It is now a multi-specialty group practice across three locations, and the specialties were not added at random. Each one arrived because patients kept needing it. Urology came first. Primary care followed, because the men who came in for a prostate symptom often had untreated blood pressure and no internist. Gynecology followed for the same reason on the women's side. Interventional radiology was added in 2021 to build out prostate artery embolization, and once the angiography suite existed it made fibroid, varicocele, vein and hemorrhoid embolization possible for the whole group.

The practical result is that a patient here can be evaluated, imaged, and treated by people who talk to each other, in one record, under one phone number. A woman with heavy bleeding and anemia sees gynecology and gets her ferritin checked the same week. A man with an enlarged prostate can be offered medication, a minimally invasive office procedure, or embolization, and hear the case for each from the physicians who perform them rather than from whoever happens to own the equipment.

How we decide

The rule the group runs on is that the least invasive option that can actually solve the problem gets considered first, and that every treatment is described in terms of what it costs the patient before it is described in terms of how well it works. Recovery time, sexual function, continence, anesthesia, the chance of needing a second procedure — those are stated up front. Some of what we offer is elective and cosmetic, and we say so plainly rather than dressing it in medical language. When the evidence for something is thin, we say that too.

That is also why the practice publishes books. A twenty-minute visit cannot hold a full explanation of why a PSA rises or why a bladder empties poorly, and patients who understand the mechanism make better decisions about what to do next. The titles in our health library follow the same pathways we use in the office.

Where we are

Our Midtown office is at 800 Second Avenue, and our Queens office is on Yellowstone Boulevard in Forest Hills. Both offer same-week appointments, most major insurance is accepted, and the group runs a telehealth service, a virtual UTI and STI clinic, and a concierge urology practice for patients who want direct access. Our Rego Park office at 95-30 Queens Blvd provides gynecology care Monday–Friday; call the main office for hours and scheduling.

Featured publications

Our physicians are regularly asked to comment on urology, men’s health and women’s health in the national press.
