New York Medicine Doctors is a multi-specialty group, and the specialties are not a marketing list. Each one was added because patients already in the practice needed it and were being sent elsewhere to get it. What follows is what each service covers, who does it, and — more usefully — when it is the right door to walk through first.

One principle runs across all of them. We consider the least invasive option that can actually solve the problem before we consider a larger one, and we describe what a treatment costs the patient — recovery, sexual function, continence, anesthesia, the odds of needing a second procedure — before we describe how well it works. That ordering is deliberate, and it is explained at greater length in how we choose treatments.

Urology

The founding specialty and still the largest. Urology here covers the prostate, the kidneys and ureters, the bladder, and male reproductive and sexual health. The prostate work spans the whole pathway: enlarged prostate from first symptoms through medication, office procedures and prostate artery embolization; PSA and adjunct testing, MRI and biopsy where indicated; and screening decisions keyed to what a given man stands to gain from finding a cancer early.

Stone disease is handled end to end, from a first episode of colic through metabolic evaluation aimed at keeping it from recurring — see kidney stones. Bladder complaints are worked up rather than guessed at: overactive bladder, incontinence, urinary tract infection, pelvic pain, and waking at night to urinate, which is frequently not a bladder problem at all.

Women's health

Gynecology runs from annual examinations and contraception through the problems that bring most women in: heavy or irregular bleeding, endometriosis, PCOS, menopause and perimenopause, pelvic pain, and fibroids. Fibroids are worth singling out, because the treatment a woman is offered still depends too much on which specialist she happens to see first. Here she can hear the case for medical management, hysteroscopic treatment, myomectomy and uterine fibroid embolization from the people who perform them.

Internal medicine and preventive care

Internal medicine is the anchor for everything else: annual physicals, blood pressure, lipids, diabetes, thyroid disease, asthma and COPD, vaccination review, pre-operative clearance and same-week visits for acute illness. A good share of our internal medicine patients arrived for a urologic or gynecologic problem and did not have a primary care physician at all.

Vascular and interventional radiology

The interventional radiology service was added in 2021 to build out prostate artery embolization, and the angiography suite made the rest of it possible. Vascular care now covers varicose and spider veins, DVT, venous ulcers, peripheral artery disease, carotid disease and aortic aneurysm surveillance, alongside the embolization work: fibroid, varicocele, hemorrhoid and prostate artery embolization.

Cardiology and screening

Our internal medicine team evaluates cardiovascular risk and helps patients manage blood pressure and cholesterol. Office ECG and other appropriate evaluations can be discussed during your visit. Echocardiograms and treadmill stress tests are arranged through outside providers when needed; they are not performed in our offices.

Sexual health

Sexual healthcare is offered for men and women, in the office or by video, and is treated as ordinary medicine rather than as a separate embarrassing category. For men that means evaluating erectile dysfunction properly — as a vascular and hormonal finding with real implications for the heart — before reaching for a prescription, and offering shockwave therapy, injection therapy, PRP and implants in a considered order. It also covers Peyronie's disease, premature ejaculation, STI testing and treatment and our virtual UTI and STI clinic.

Hormones, longevity and weight

Longevity medicine is the most misunderstood service we offer, so it is worth being blunt: it is a measurement programme, not a supplement counter. Testosterone and hormone replacement are managed with labs, symptoms and an honest conversation about fertility and the size of the expected benefit. Peptide therapy is prescribed with monitoring and clear statements about where the evidence stops. Weight management now sits at the centre of much of this, because the GLP-1 medications changed what is achievable and also created a set of problems — muscle loss, dosing, what happens when you stop — that need a physician rather than a website.

Aesthetics and the medical spa

Our medical spa offers Morpheus8, Emsculpt, Emsella, Botox, dermal fillers and microneedling. This work is elective and cosmetic, and we say so rather than describing it in medical language it has not earned. Where a treatment is being marketed elsewhere for a medical indication it has not been cleared for, we will tell you that in the consultation.

Concierge, telehealth and travel

Patients who want direct access — a phone that gets answered, appointments arranged around a schedule, coordination of everything above — use our concierge urology service. Telehealth covers follow-ups, results, medication management and much of our sexual health work. Travel medicine handles vaccinations, prophylaxis and pre-trip consultation.
