What are the different types?
The two different types of penile implants include a 3-piece inflatable implant and a malleable implant. The main difference between these two options is that the inflatable implant produces a more natural erection versus the malleable implant, which produces a permanently firm penis.
The inflatable penile implant is an extremely popular treatment option. Its design is most similar to a natural erection, both looks and performance-wise. This self-contained, fluid-filled system is composed of both silicone and Bioflex. With this implant, 3-pieces will work together to help give you an erection. This includes:
- A reservoir that will be placed in the abdomen.
- Two cylinders are then inserted into the penis.
- Lastly, a pump that is placed in your scrotum.
While the malleable penile implant may not be as natural, it is only composed of two firm, yet flexible, rods. These rods are inserted into the shaft of your penis. This implant is often favored by men with limited dexterity.
